Extension Service programs reflect the needs and interests within the local community. As a federal, state and local partnership, Extension outreach brings together knowledge and resources from a host of sources. But, all programs are not available in each county. Call our office, or enter any of the four major program areas listed below to learn more!
Agriculture & Natural Resources
Cooperative Extension has historic roots in agriculture and the environment from helping commercial farmers and growers (through Agricultural Extension Agents) to home lawn and garden enthusiasts (through the Master Gardener program), Extension has knowledge and expertise to share.
Families & Health
Home is where the heart is and family and home issues are at the heart of Extension personal health programming. Under this heading are the areas of Community Educational Outreach Service (or CEOS which includes CEOS Clubs); Dining with Diabetes; and the Family Nutrition Program (or FNP).
Community, Economic & Workforce Development
WVU Extension Service’s Community, Economic, and Workforce Development personnel conduct research and provide educational assistance to local communities throughout the state. These activities are in the areas of business retention and expansion, entrepreneurship development, economic development networks, strategic planning, local government finance and special studies of socio-economic trends. WVU Extension has programs in Community Resources and Economic Development, Fire Service Extension training, Labor Studies, and Safety and Health. These programs, individually or combined, make for a valuable tool in maintaining our state’s communities.
